What does it take?

So what does it take to get out of these stupid Bush wars?

Does anyone think our military presence in Afghanastan can do anything other than get people killed and waste incredible amounts of money?

You can’t teach people democracy if they can’t read.

A purple thumb does not mean that the voter had any idea who she was voting for or why? A free press to tell them who and why doesn’t matter if they can’t read.

The literacy rate in Afghanastan is 28 percent.

In the 2008 elections, 56.8 percent of the voting age population in America voted. Virtually all of them were literate. The vast majority of the ones that didn’t vote also were literate.

If half of Afghanastan’s literate populace voted, you would have 14 percent. Split them into two parties (and that is a far out concept) and you would have the ruling party run by 8 percent of the people.

So much for democracy.

Natural resources in Afghanastan include rocks, sand, and poppies with which to make herion.

The average Afghanastan family, not involved in the poppy trade, earns $300 a year. We aren’t selling many Fords over there.

If there is hell on earth, its name is Afghanastan.

So why in hell are we there?
