Republican Strategy: Staggering Hypocrisy

with one comment

Paul Kurgman has been one of my favorite guys ever since he said that his money was in safe money-market funds during the market dive. I just missed his column when he told me to do that. I paid the price.

His New York Times column this week talks about the Republican strategy of opposing the Obama adminstration’s proposed cuts to Medicare. He points out that the Republicans’ past and future objective is to do away with Medicare altogether.

This, according to Krugman, is a “breathtaking act of staggering hypocrasy.”

The Newtster is in favor of this Republican push. The Newtser shut down the federal government in 1995 and his Republican ilk have shut down the federal government in 2010 by invoking the filibuster 112 times in one Congress.

I am getting tired of this proposed filibuster of everything.

Let’s let it happen and put it on CSpan. Let Jon Stewart have his way with it. I can’t wait. Imagine what the Colbert Report would do with an actual filibuster.

It is high commedy.

Filibuster is a funny word. The act is even funnier. Imagine one guy holding up the work of the most powerful nation in the world by reading his grandmother’s recipes.

Senator Strom Thurmond (then D-SC, later R-SC)) set a record in 1957 by filibustering the Civil Rights Act of 1957 for 24 hours and 18 minutes.

Strom Thurmond had a black daughter.

Talk about a “breathtaking act of staggering hypocracy.”

We have a history of staggering hypocracy.

Let’s just make it official.

I want a filibuster. I want it now.

  1. It is AMAING, however we let them get away with it! Someone else will call, write, fax, text, e-mail, etc.–we are too busy, to tired, (and for some too apathetic, or stupid) to respond in any manner. Then do we deserve what we get?
Try listening to Meet The Press (gone down hill since Russets demise) without having a stoke over the outrageous half truths, and out right lies.
Have You expressed Your thoughts, support, or disapproval to Your congressional persons????????????
