Missing Her

with one comment

I didn’t know that Mary Travers died. She was 72 and had battled leukemia for several years. She died Sept. 16.

She started singing with Pete Seeger, who lived in the same building where she grew up in Greenwich Village.

Peter, Paul and Mary collected five Grammy Awards and launched Bob Dylan’s career with their recordings of “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” They also boosted the careers of Gordon Lightfoot and Laura Nyro.

“Puff (The Magic Dragon)” reached No. 2 on the charts and I am now just learning to play it on guitar.

Peter, Paul and Mary touched me more than The Beatles, The Stones or even Jimmy Buffett.

My head is bent in sorrow.
