Miles for Matt

with 7 comments

This update is so Matt Steinhoff will quit bitching and so I can get down all the numbers before I start misplacing the scraps of paper I wrote them down on.

I fell behind by 18 miles in March. As I remember, there was rain. I’ll just have to work a little harder this month.

  1. Finally. Thank God!

My fear was that you were silently cranking out major miles and lulling me into a false sense of mileage security.

The good news is that, while you are far more consistent in your progress, you have fallen behind me enough that I can relax a bit. I did 26 miles tonight to bring my yearly total up to 1,018 miles — about 19 days ahead of you, assuming you do 12 miles a day.

    {whew!}

As always, you can track my cycling progress online.

    Cheers,
    Matt

  2. I’m still counting on hot weather to plaster you to your air conditioning before you get close to your goal.

On the other hand, I’m impressed with your miles. You are so far ahead of me that I’m not even going to share my mileage.

(But I DO update my blog more frequently.)

  3. ping Keefer.

    Are you alive?

If not, remember that you promised to leave me your Kindle. And your Cannondale T800.

Actually, I think you told me it was OK just to sort through anything you had left behind.

  4. Hold it: I get the Porsche – my good name was invoked while buying it, you might recall.

He was in the Keys this weekend. I daresay he probably hasn’t recovered just yet from the return trip dragging his tankard through Alabama Jack’s.

(Several days with no Keefer miles, Matt — do the happy pedal dance.)

  5. With as little riding as Keefer is doing, I’m wondering who had ‘April’ as the drop dead date. Did he ever post a list of dates people picked?

We should have insisted on a ‘timely reporting’ component to the wager.

Keefer: I added a bike century to my log book last weekend. I’m up to 1,200 miles.

    Cheers,
    Matt

  6. Has anybody been by Keef’s to see if there are flies on his windows.

It’s starting to get warm and his possessions will become, shall we say, “unpleasant”, if he’s checked out without anyone knowing about it.

The bike frames would probably be OK, but you’d have to replace the saddles and bar tape to get the smell out.

  7. Keefer is alive.

Norris discovered that he and Dick Cheney are holed up in an undisclosed location watching a six-season set of 24.

If Chuck asks you any questions in the next few days, I suggest that you answer him quickly or you may find yourself facing extreme interrogation techniques. You don’t have to tell him the truth, just pony up an answer before he starts pulling out fingernails.
